Night arrivals at La Romana airport (LRM)

Answer first · updated September 2026 · written by the dispatch desk

A night landing at LRM costs exactly the same as a midday one. Bayahibe is $40 Standard at 14:00 and $40 Standard at 23:30. We track the flight, so the driver leaves the base against the actual wheels-down time, and he waits inside the arrivals hall with a printed name sign no matter how late the aircraft is. There is no night surcharge, no waiting fee and no re-quote at the car door.

What LRM arrivals looks like after dark

La Romana is a small airport with a handful of movements a day, so a late arrival lands into a building that is essentially yours. One aircraft — a delayed charter from Milan or Montreal, or a diverted flight — comes in, immigration processes it in ten or fifteen minutes, one belt runs, and the hall empties again.

The quiet surprises people. The shops are shut, the car rental desks are closed, and the line of drivers holding signs is four or five people rather than a wall. That makes finding your driver easier, not harder — provided you know he is standing inside, past customs, and not somewhere out on the road.

Nothing about the procedure changes at night. Immigration, bags, customs slip, then out through the same door into the meeting area. Plan 15 to 30 minutes from wheels-down to that door and tell anyone waiting at the hotel to expect you about an hour after landing on a Bayahibe or Dominicus run.

No night surcharge — and why we say it plainly

Every rate on our list is the same figure at any hour: La Romana $25, Casa de Campo $29, Bayahibe $40, Dominicus $45, Higüey $70, Juan Dolio $75, Santo Domingo $110, Cap Cana $95, Bávaro $115, Uvero Alto $145, Miches $170, Samaná $320. VIP runs $59 to $430 across those same zones. One-way, per vehicle, one to six passengers, taxes and tolls included.

We are explicit because the curb is not. A price quoted at 22:00 when three cars are left outside a quiet terminal is a different negotiation from the same price at noon. Our figure is written on WhatsApp before you fly and it is the figure the driver collects.

The driver's own night is our problem, not yours. A 23:00 arrival means the dispatcher rosters someone who slept in the afternoon. That is a scheduling cost we absorb rather than pass through as a line item.

How to find the sign when the hall is thin

Walk straight out of customs and stop. The meeting area is directly in front of the exit and, late in the evening, holds perhaps five to fifteen people. Scan the signs once — yours has your surname printed on it, the way you spelled it on WhatsApp.

If you booked under a travel companion's name, look for theirs. If you gave us a company name for an invoice, we print the passenger name anyway unless you asked otherwise. Tell us at booking if you want something specific on the board.

If you have walked the line twice and seen nothing, do not leave the terminal. Stay in the hall and message the WhatsApp number. The dispatcher has the driver's live position and will tell you within a minute whether he is at the sign line, parking, or two minutes out because the flight beat its estimate.

What to do if your phone is dead

This happens more often than a missed driver. Two things make it a non-event. The meeting point never changes: inside arrivals, past customs, name sign. And we hold the booking against your flight number, not against a message thread — if you never write to us after landing, the driver still stands there.

If you are dark: walk out of customs, find the sign, done. If the sign is not there, ask any of the drivers in the line for the dispatcher — at an airport this size the private operators all know each other. The information desk will also let you make a local call.

Belt and braces: screenshot the WhatsApp confirmation before you fly and write the number on paper in your passport wallet.

Why ride-hailing still fails at night

Nothing about the app situation improves after dark. There is no meaningful ride-hailing pool in La Romana province at any hour, and the airport curb belongs to the licensed concession. The realistic outcomes are no cars on the map at all, or a driver who asks you to walk out to the public road.

Walking a road shoulder at 23:00 with suitcases, a stroller and a child who has been awake for fourteen hours is not a transport plan.

The official taxi rank does operate for scheduled arrivals and it is legitimate. It is also thin late in the evening, which means less choice and a worse position for you if the first quote is high.

Early departures: leave-lobby buffers

Night arrivals usually come with an early departure at the other end of the holiday. The buffers we quote for a 07:00 to 09:00 flight are the same ones we use all day, because the road is empty but the single security line at LRM is not: La Romana and Casa de Campo 2 hours before departure, Bayahibe and Dominicus 2.5, Higüey and Juan Dolio 3, Boca Chica and Cap Cana 3.5, Bávaro 4, Uvero Alto 5, Miches 5, Santo Domingo 4.5.

Those buffers are measured from the hotel lobby, not from your room. For a 06:00 lobby pickup, arrange the checkout the night before and ask reception for a boxed breakfast; most resorts do it without fuss if you ask at dinner rather than at midnight.

We confirm the exact pickup time by WhatsApp the day before, and the driver is in the lobby ten minutes early.

Questions we get on this

Is there a night surcharge for an LRM transfer?
No. A 23:00 landing pays the same as a 14:00 landing — Bayahibe $40 Standard, Casa de Campo $29, Dominicus $45, per vehicle for one to six passengers, taxes included.
My flight lands late and it is delayed. Will the driver still be there?
Yes. We track the flight number you send, so the driver's schedule follows the aircraft. A two-hour delay costs nothing extra and there is no waiting fee.
Where does the driver wait at night?
The same place as during the day: inside arrivals, past baggage claim and customs, holding a printed sign with your name.
What if my phone is dead when I land?
You do not need it. The booking is held against your flight number and the meeting point never changes. Walk out of customs and look for the name sign.
Does Uber work at LRM late at night?
No. There is no working ride-hailing pickup at La Romana airport at any hour, and after dark there are effectively no app drivers in range.
Is it safe to drive to Bayahibe or Dominicus after dark?
Yes, with a professional driver who knows the road. The last stretches are unlit two-lane local roads, which is why we send a driver who runs them weekly rather than someone following a phone map.
Can I book a night arrival and pay on the spot?
You pay the driver at the end of the ride, in US dollars or Dominican pesos, or by bank transfer beforehand if you need an invoice. Nothing is prepaid to hold the booking.
What time should the driver collect me for an 08:00 departure?
Casa de Campo 06:00, Bayahibe 05:30, Dominicus 05:30, Higüey 05:00. Those are lobby times, confirmed by WhatsApp the day before.
