Higüey is the provincial capital inland from the coast — the Basílica de Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, the university, the hospitals, the bus terminal and the residential neighbourhoods where many people on this coast actually live. Travellers book this run for family visits, for the Basilica, for medical appointments and for onward buses. The road from La Romana runs north-east through cane country and is straightforward in daylight; at night the unlit stretches are driven slower, which is why we quote a range rather than one number. The price covers any city address, including the Basilica car park and the terminal.

How the Higüey pickup runs

City hotels, private homes, the Basilica, the bus terminal and the hospitals. A landmark plus a street name is enough for the driver.

We drop at the door of the address you give us. For the Basilica we use the main car park, and for a family home we call ahead from the last junction if the street is hard to find.
