How to pay for an LRM airport transfer

Answer first · updated August 2026 · written by the dispatch desk

There is no prepayment to hold a booking from La Romana International Airport (LRM). You confirm the price on WhatsApp for one to six passengers, then pay the driver at the end of the ride — cash in US dollars or Dominican pesos, or bank transfer beforehand if you need an invoice for company travel. The quoted number already includes tolls, taxes and any waiting for a delayed flight, and round trips get 5% off the return leg.

Nothing is charged before you fly

We quote the price in writing on WhatsApp once you send the flight number, hotel and party size. No card is charged and no deposit is taken to hold the reservation. This is the opposite of how most booking platforms work, where the money leaves your account weeks before anyone in La Romana knows the trip exists.

The reservation stands on the quote alone. If the flight moves, we re-track it and adjust the pickup time — the price you were given does not change because of a delay.

Cash: US dollars or Dominican pesos

Most guests pay the driver in cash at the end of the ride, in whichever currency is easier to carry: US dollars or Dominican pesos (DOP). Round numbers in dollars are simplest — a $40 Bayahibe transfer, a $45 run to Dominicus — and drivers carry small change for a $50 or $100 bill.

If you pay in pesos, expect the driver to convert at a rate close to the day's bank rate, not the worse rate posted at airport currency counters. Ask for the figure before you hand over the cash if you want to check the math; drivers quote it plainly and there is no rounding trick built in.

Bank transfer and invoices

If you need to pay before arrival, or if the trip is being expensed, we take a bank transfer and send a receipt in advance. This is the route most corporate bookings use, since an invoice with the company name and trip details needs to exist before finance will approve it.

Ask for the invoice when you request the quote, not after the ride. We can itemise the fare, the vehicle class and the round-trip discount if it applies, which is what most accounting departments ask for.

Tipping

Tipping is optional and never required. Drivers are paid a set wage for the run, and the quoted fare is the full price of the transfer — nothing is withheld from it that a tip is expected to cover.

If a driver helped with heavy bags, a car seat, or waited well past a delayed landing without complaint, a few dollars is appreciated the way it would be with any driver anywhere, but it is not built into the price and nobody will mention it if you skip it.

What the price already includes

The number you are quoted is the whole cost of the trip: tolls on the route, all local taxes, and waiting time if your flight lands late. There is no separate toll receipt to keep and no surcharge added at the car for a plane that landed two hours behind schedule, as long as we were given the flight number to track.

The only additions we quote separately are a larger vehicle for seven to fourteen passengers (Standard plus $20, VIP plus $40 on local zones, Miches and Samaná vans quoted on WhatsApp) and a second pickup stop, which is agreed before the trip, not added afterward.

Round trips: 5% off the return leg

Book the arrival and the departure together and the round trip is 5% cheaper than two separate one-way bookings. A Bayahibe round trip runs $76 Standard instead of $80 for two one-way legs; Casa de Campo is $55 instead of $58.

The discount applies automatically when both legs are booked in the same message. You still pay however you prefer — cash at each end, or a single transfer covering both legs if you want one invoice for the whole trip.

Questions we get on this

Do I need to pay anything to hold my LRM transfer booking?
No. There is no prepayment or deposit. You confirm the price on WhatsApp and pay the driver at the end of the ride, or arrange a bank transfer if you need an invoice.
Can I pay in Dominican pesos instead of US dollars?
Yes. Drivers accept either. If you pay in pesos, the conversion is close to the bank rate for that day, not the weaker rate posted at airport currency counters.
Is a tip expected?
No. Tipping is optional and never required. The quoted fare is the full price of the transfer.
Does the price include tolls and taxes?
Yes. The number you are quoted already covers tolls, local taxes and waiting time for a tracked flight that lands late.
Can I get an invoice for company travel?
Yes. Ask when you request the quote and we send a bank transfer option with a receipt itemising the fare and vehicle class before the trip.
How much do I save booking a round trip?
5% off the round trip. A Bayahibe round trip is $76 Standard instead of $80 for two separate one-way bookings.
