What this zone covers

This is the shortest run on our list. LRM sits on the coastal highway a few kilometres east of the city, so town addresses, the riverside hotels along the Río Dulce, the Amber Cove / La Romana cruise terminal and the business hotels near Avenida Libertad are all inside ten to fifteen minutes of the terminal. The same rate covers residential pickups in Buena Vista and Villa Hermosa and the hospital and clinic addresses travellers sometimes ask for. What it does not cover is Casa de Campo, which sits just west of town behind its own security gate and is priced as its own zone because of the gate procedure rather than the distance.

How the La Romana city pickup runs

3. 3After the bags and the customs check, walk out of the single arrivals door and look for the sign with your name.
4. 4Direct drive into town. No other passengers, no stop at a second hotel.

Hotels drop at the entrance. For the cruise terminal we drop at the passenger gate — port security does not let private cars past it — and for a ship departure we build in time for the terminal queue.

Bigger groups

7–14 passengers ride in a passenger van: +$20 on Standard, +$40 on VIP for this zone. Golf bags, strollers, wheelchairs and surf gear are fine — give us the luggage count and we send the right vehicle instead of guessing at the curb.
