Title: Transfer times from La Romana Airport by zone (2026) Locale: en Canonical HTML URL: https://lrmairporttransfer.com/en/guides/transfer-times-from-lrm Updated: September 2026 Author: LRM dispatch desk, La Romana Operator: LRM Airport Transfer — A&M Caribbean Group SRL # Transfer times from La Romana Airport by zone Reference table · drive times and rates from our price list ## Direct answer Drive time from LRM is 10 to 15 minutes to La Romana town, 10 to 20 minutes to Casa de Campo, 25 to 35 to Bayahibe and 30 to 40 to the Dominicus resorts. Higüey is 45 to 60 minutes, Santo Domingo 1 h 45 to 2 h, and the Punta Cana resort zones 1 h 15 to 2 h 35 depending on how far up the coast you are. Add 15 to 30 minutes for immigration and bags before the drive starts — at a single-hall airport that number is small and predictable. The table below gives every zone in three traffic bands. Prices are one-way, per vehicle, taxes included, 1–6 passengers. 7–14 passengers move to a van: Standard +20 / VIP +40 on local zones. Private only — no shared seats, no night surcharge, no prepayment to hold. Rate list updated September 2026. ## Wheels down to curb: 15 to 30 minutes LRM is a one-hall airport handling a handful of flights a day, so the arrival process is short. On a quiet morning you can be outside in fifteen minutes. When two aircraft land together — which does happen with the winter charter schedule — immigration can take half an hour, and that is the realistic upper bound. Baggage runs in parallel and is rarely the constraint. Customs is a walk-through unless you are flagged. For planning dinner or a check-in cutoff, use landing time plus 25 minutes plus the drive time for your zone. ## The short zones: La Romana, Casa de Campo La Romana town and the cruise port are 10 to 15 minutes on the main road. Casa de Campo is 10 to 20, and the variable is the estate, not the highway: the car stops at the guard post, the driver gives the villa or hotel and the guest name, and the barrier lifts. That is a two-minute routine when the reservation name matches and a fifteen-minute one when it does not, which is why we ask for the name on the booking and register the vehicle in advance. Inside Casa de Campo the distances are real. The Marina, the hotel and Altos de Chavón are several minutes apart, and a villa at Dye Fore is further again. ## The east coast: Bayahibe and Dominicus Bayahibe is 25 to 35 minutes. Dominicus adds five to ten more, so 30 to 40 to Dreams, Iberostar Hacienda, Viva, Catalonia and the condominiums around them. Both are straightforward highway plus a short local road; the spread comes from where exactly your property sits and from the morning traffic around the Bayahibe turn-off. If you are going to Saona, the boats leave from Bayahibe village pier and from Dominicus beach. Both are inside these same zones, so the drive planning is identical. ## The long runs: Higüey, Punta Cana and Santo Domingo Higüey is 45 to 60 minutes north. The Punta Cana resort zones run from 1 h 15 for Cap Cana to 2 h 35 for Uvero Alto, on the Coral highway; these are perfectly normal runs for us and priced as their own zones. West, Juan Dolio is 50 to 70 minutes, Boca Chica 70 to 90, Santo Domingo and SDQ airport 1 h 45 to 2 h. Miches is 2 h 30 to 3 h over the mountain road, and Samaná 4 to 4 h 30, which should be planned as most of a day. ## Departure buffers we use, by zone For the ride back to LRM we schedule pickup on a buffer measured from your scheduled departure, not from the drive time. It is operator advice, not an airline rule: two hours from La Romana and Casa de Campo, two and a half from Bayahibe and Dominicus, three from Higüey and Juan Dolio, three and a half from Boca Chica and Cap Cana, four to five from the far Punta Cana zones. The buffer is not about the road on the short runs — it is about the terminal. LRM has one security line, and when two flights leave in the same hour it fills immediately. Two hours puts you comfortably ahead of that without a long wait afterwards. If your flight is the first out at 8 a.m., a 6 a.m. pickup from Bayahibe is what the buffer implies, and we will do it at the same price as any other hour. ## Traffic bands: normal, peak and night The same drive is not the same length at every hour, so the table gives three bands rather than one optimistic figure. Normal is a weekday morning or a quiet evening. Peak here is the school and work rush through La Romana city, roughly 7:00 to 9:00 and 16:00 to 18:30, which affects the town crossing on every eastbound run. Night is roughly 21:00 to 05:00. Peak costs a few minutes on the short zones and up to fifteen on Bayahibe and Dominicus, because the route skirts the city. It barely touches the long highway runs west. Night is faster on the highway and slower on the local roads, which are unlit around Bayahibe and Dominicus and are driven at a sensible speed rather than a fast one. None of this changes your price. The rate is agreed in writing before you fly and the band only tells you when to leave. ## What we do not control Two things move these numbers and neither is the driver: the crossing of La Romana city at rush hour, and a police checkpoint on the Higüey road, which appears at random and adds a few minutes. Neither changes your price. ## Drive time by zone: normal, peak and night | Zone | Drive time | Standard | | --- | --- | --- | | La Romana city / cruise port | 10–15 min | $25 | | Casa de Campo / Altos de Chavón | 10–20 min | $29 | | Bayahibe | 25–35 min | $40 | | Dominicus | 30–40 min | $45 | | Higüey | 45–60 min | $70 | | Juan Dolio / Guayacanes | 50–70 min | $75 | | Boca Chica | 70–90 min | $95 | | Santo Domingo (city or SDQ) | 1 h 45 – 2 h | $110 | | Cap Cana | 1 h 15 – 1 h 30 | $95 | | Punta Cana Village / PUJ airport | 1 h 25 – 1 h 40 | $105 | | Cabeza de Toro | 1 h 30 – 1 h 45 | $110 | | Bávaro / El Cortecito / Los Corales | 1 h 35 – 1 h 55 | $115 | | Arena Gorda | 1 h 45 – 2 h 05 | $125 | | Macao | 1 h 55 – 2 h 15 | $135 | | Uvero Alto | 2 h 10 – 2 h 35 | $145 | | Miches / Playa Esmeralda | 2 h 30 – 3 h | $170 | | Las Terrenas / Samaná / Las Galeras | 4 – 4.5 h | $320 | Full price list: https://lrmairporttransfer.com/en/prices Measured from the LRM terminal door. Peak is the La Romana city rush, roughly 07:00–09:00 and 16:00–18:30; night is 21:00–05:00. Standard is one-way, per vehicle, one to six passengers, taxes included, and identical in every band. ## FAQ ### How long is the drive from LRM to Bayahibe? 25 to 35 minutes in normal traffic, up to 45 during the La Romana city rush, and around 30 at night on unlit local roads.
